Substance-use & recovery counseling in Jacksonville, NC
Alcohol or other substances may have started as a way to cope, sleep, connect, numb pain, manage trauma, or get through the day. Now you may be dealing with consequences, secrecy, shame, conflict, cravings, or fear that change will not last.
You do not have to arrive certain, sober, or free of setbacks to have an honest conversation about what you want next.
Nonjudgmental support
You may be questioning your use, returning after a relapse, protecting progress you have already made, or trying to repair relationships and routines affected by substances. Trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, pain, military experiences, family patterns, and social environments may all matter.
Our clinicians provide counseling focused on motivation, coping, recovery planning, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and co-occurring concerns. We work collaboratively and discuss whether outpatient care is appropriate for your current needs.
Needing a different or higher level of care is not failure. When detoxification, medication management, residential treatment, or other specialized services are indicated, appropriate referrals may be recommended.
What counseling can address
Treatment can focus on what happened before use, what the substance provides in the moment, what follows afterward, and what support is needed to respond differently.

Our approach
Depending on your needs, counseling may use motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT skills, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, relapse-prevention strategies, and family-systems work. Goals are developed collaboratively and adjusted as circumstances change.
Our approach is culturally responsive and considers identity, family, community, military culture, grief, trauma, access to support, and the pressures influencing recovery.
